International Women's Association of Graz

IWA members are part of a registered non-profit, non-political, and self-supporting club which was established in 1994 to unite English-speaking women who live in and near Graz.

The club is administered by volunteers elected by the membership. Through its membership in Open Door, IWA is linked to international women’s associations around the world.

Our Mission

The IWA is a non-profit organisation that brings together English-speaking women to promote cross-cultural respect and provide an atmosphere of friendship and support. The club actively raises funds and provides assistance for community and charitable organisations primarily in Austria.

Tina coordinates the current activities of the IWA and represents the IWA in public.

Bettina is responsible for the proper financial management of all funds received and disbursed by the IWA.

Monika supports the President in the management of IWA activities.

Christine organises guest speakers for the IWA General Meetings and serves as deputy to the President.

Christine supports the Treasurer in carrying out her duties.

Membership Officer
Claudia serves as the first point of contact for prospective members, communicates with current members, and maintains all membership records.

Activities Officer
The Activities Officer organises and coordinates various monthly club activities for the benefit of the membership. This position is currently open for volunteers.

Publications Officer
Sara creates the monthly Grapewein newsletter, supports the Website/Facebook Administrator in her duties, and prepares communications as requested by the Board.

Sarah supports the elected Board members by helping organising a specific annual fundraising event and supporting fundraising activities at other monthly events.

Hospitality Officer & Open Door Coordinator
Bettina organises the monthly coffee mornings and supports communication with the Open Door Association for International Women’s Clubs.

Happy Hour Coordinators
Corinna and Bettina organise the monthly happy hour events, enjoyable early evening meetings in relaxed settings.

Sarah updates the IWA website and monitors the club’s Facebook group.

Book Club Coordinators
Christine and Susan organise two monthly English book clubs for the IWA.

Lean-in Circle
Sara plans monthly in-person and/or virtual Lean-in Circle meetings to support our members in their professional development.

Anna organises monthly meetups at child-friendly events and venues upon request.

Auditors
Joanne and Corinne were elected to audit the IWA financial accounts on an annual basis.

The Parliamentarian supports the President by providing legal information and advice on legal procedures upon request. This position is currently open for volunteers.
