SUMMARY:IWA Winter Walk
DESCRIPTION:In 2025 the IWA was a proud supporter of the Jukus Verein‘s Pro Aktiv project and organized monthly events that encouraged our members to get out\, meet\, and move! \nThe project has (officially) ended\, but our goal to support fitness remains the same. This month\, we invite you to join Lisa from Jukus and Sara from the IWA on a winter walk along the west side of the Mur River to the Kalvarienberg. Partners\, family members\, and friends are warmly invited to join this activity! \nWe’ll meet at the Keplerbrücke (bus stop)\, cross the Mur River\, and walk north on the west side of the river. Along the way\, we’ll make some short stops at the “tea house” (community garden)\, a calisthenics facility\, view Kalvarienberg\, and do some gentle breathing exercises near the water. \nWhen: Wednesday\, February 4\, 12 – 2 PM \nWhere: Meet before 12 PM at the Keplerbrücke (bus stop) \nGoogle maps link \nTo help Sara plan this activity\, please sign up by Feb. 2 and let us know if you will come alone or with friends/family members.

DESCRIPTION:Note: This event is formally offered in beginner-level German\, but support in English can be provided. \nSara C. will accompany the group to this event\, which gives you the chance to visit the Frauenservice Graz. This important IWA partner organization provides information about your rights as a woman in Austria\, access to the job market\, recognition of training/education certificates\, women’s health\, democratic representation and participation\, and many other topics. \nAt this special event\, the Frauenservice will kick-off their “Lehrgang für Integrationswissen und interkulturelle Kompetenzen”\, which runs September through December\, meeting every Thursday. Taking part in this project can be especially helpful for women who are new in Austria and would like to learn more about: \n\norganizations that provide support for women in Graz and Austria\nget to know other international women facing similar integration challenges\npractice their German\nget important tips that can help smooth the integration process in Austria\ntalk to experts\ngo on interesting excursions together\n\nYou are not required to continue the course after this initial event\, but are welcome to continue if you like it. Many women living in Austria do not speak German and can experience significant anxiety and stress when they need to speak in public.
