SUMMARY:Explore Styria with the IWA: Hike near Wildon
DESCRIPTION:The beautiful historic city of Wildon is located south of Graz at the confluence of the Mur and Kainach Rivers. Christine R. and Corinna R. invite you to join us on a hike to explore the area near Wildon\, the Wildoner Schlossberg (castle ruins) and the Buchkogel. The route features beautiful views\, and we will end the tour with a visit to a Buschenschank (local restaurant offering regional\, seasonal food and drink). \nMeeting date: Sunday\, 31 May 2026\nMeeting time: take the S1 at 12:35 from Graz Hauptbahnhof (towards Leibnitz or Spielfeld-Strass) or board at Graz Don Bosco or Graz Puntigam stops a few minutes later\nIf you’d like to join us by car\, meet us by 13:00 at the Wildon Bahnhof (Google maps link)\nDuration: half day\nIWA members\, friends\, and family welcome\nPlease sign up HERE and indicate how many people you are and if you are vegetarian. \nWhat to bring: Put on non-slippery shoes and take along a bottle of water as well as warmer clothes to spend time outside in the evening. Depending on the weather forecast\, it may be worthwhile to bring a rain jacket.  \nDifficulty: This hike is easy\, and young kids should be able to do it without any problem. The hike is note accessible for strollers/buggies. No one will be allowed to climb the ruins\, since this is quite dangerous and stones could break off.  \nRoutes and approximate hiking times: We will hike from the Wildon train station up to the Wildoner Schlossberg and explore the ruins of several medieval castles there. We will also have the opportunity to enter a cave called the “Wilde Mann Höhle”.  \nThis first loop will take 60-90 minutes and those of us who are tired at this point or whose kids would rather spend time on a small playground can head directly to Buschenschank Bockmoar\, which is another 20 minutes’ walk away. Those who still have energy and fancy hiking a little more will walk up to the top of the Wildoner Buchkogel\, enjoy the forest and the views and then head back down to Buschenschank Bockmoar from there.  \nWe plan to all meet at Buschenschank at 16:00 at a table that will be set up for us in the middle of the vineyards. \nRead more about the area \nIf you come by car\, please consider carpooling with other people! \nPhoto: Lisi Maier

DESCRIPTION:This month Mums & Explorers are heading to Feldkirchen bei Graz for a day of fun!  We will be at the Generationenpark in Feldkirchen\, where there is fun for all with a playpark\, motorikpark and also mini golf. \nWe will get there for 10.30 am and stay until around 2.00 pm\, so plenty of time to get involved with everything there is to offer\, if you want!  Come along either for the whole time and bring a picnic or just pop in for an hour or two.  Everyone is welcome\, so feel free to bring dad along too\, or any friends who might also be interested.  No need to sign up in advance\, just pop along! \nFeldkirchen is easily accessible from the center of Graz by train\, which run every half an hour on Sundays.  It’s then just a short walk to the park. \nSome information about the park can be found here on the Steiermark website

DESCRIPTION:This month\, the IWA has invited Dina Tojaga to speak to us about her role at the Zebra Center for Intercultural Counseling and Therapy as an AST staff member and how she joined the Zebra team. \nAST stands for Anlaufstelle für Personen mit im Ausland erworbenen Qualifikationen (contact point for people who have received qualifications abroad). AST centers like the one at Zebra provide free multilingual advice and support that help people: \n\nFigure out whether their specific degree or job training needs to be formally recognized in Austria\nTranslate their documents into German (and identify funding options) and get their educational certificates recognized\nReceive guidance on the formal process of Nostrifikation (degree recognition) or Gleichhaltung (vocational training equivalence)\nLearn more about additional courses\, exams\, or specific legal requirements needed to practice their profession in Austria\n\nDoes this sound like the help you have been looking for?
