Greetings from
Graz and welcome to the IWA homepage! Graz is situated
southwest of Vienna, close to the Slovenian and Hungarian borders. It
is a beautiful city, the second largest in Austria and was one of its
best kept secrets, until Graz became the Cultural Capital of Europe for
the year 2003. The IWA was established in 1994 to unite
English-speaking women who live here. The aims and objectives are to
offer friendship and support to those far from their home country and
to promote a mutual understanding of other cultures and traditions. It
is also committed to raising funds for and providing assistance to
local charitable organizations.
IWA is a
registered non-profit, non-political and self-supporting organization
administered by volunteers elected by the membership. Through its
membership in Open Door, IWA is linked to international women's
associations around the world.
Whether you
are a newcomer to Graz or a current resident, we would be glad to meet
you and hope you will get in touch with us.
